Bitton archers is committed to ensuring that children, young people and adults at risk enjoy archery in a safe environment in which they are protected from poor practice, abuse, grooming or bullying.
As an Archery GB affiliated club we adopt the Archery GB safeguarding policies and expect our members, club officials, coaches and spectators/carers to follow Archery GB’s code of conduct.
All our qualified coaches have enhanced DBS checks overseen by AGB and complete regular approved child protection courses as required by AGB. In addition, all our Field Captains have completed approved child protection courses.
Bitton archers require that a parent or legal guardian always accompany their child (under 18) to the Club and remain present. The responsibility for the care, good behaviour and safe conduct of the child remains with the parent or guardian.
Safeguarding Officers
It is important that all members understand safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone. If anyone believes that they have witnessed an incident or receives a disclosure involving safeguarding concerns, this should be reported to a Child Protection Officer, the Field Captain present or any Committee Member without delay. From this point information must only be shared with Safeguarding Officers and others that have a need to know to ensure the person is safe.
